Cataracts are a clouding of the God-given lens inside the eye.
Normally the lens is clear and allows light to pass through and focus on the retina.

Normal cataracts are caused by the natural ageing process. The lens becomes "cloudy" and begins to degrade vision. Usually when the vision is reduced to 20/50 or worse, the patient becomes a candidate for cataract surgery.

With modern no patch, no stitch, small incision cataract surgery most patient have vision restored to normal or near normal levels.
